"Home"

We're back!

After over a year of discussion, deliberation and weighing the pros and cons, we finally made the decision to move our family back to San Diego. The decision truly became final when I was offered a position as a nanny for a family I used to work for. It was exactly what we needed because I would be able to bring Cade with me and only have to work part-time. Chris put in for a transfer and then the wait began. A glimmer of hope came in May when his company told him they had an opening at a store near his parent's house, but that ended up falling through. We waited again. Finally his boss called and said they had a new store opening up in October and would need him by September. Perfect! My job was to start the beginning of September so it all fell into place.

Cleaning and packing began and was quite a chore with a toddler around. He tried to help, but....well, he didn't :) During the time that I spent getting ready to move, I really struggled with leaving. I so wanted to be back down near our family and friends and to have many more opportunities for Cade. At the same time, this was our home! It was the only home Cade knew. It was where he was born and where we became a family. It was where I went to school, the first time I lived away from my parents and siblings, the place where I found a job I really loved and met wonderful people. I loved the small town feel and the beautiful trees and the seasons were amazing. It was a weird feeling to be both sad and excited at the same time. I knew though that it was the right decision to move home.

We packed up the truck with the help of Chris' friends Brandon and Pat and made the 578 mile trek down the I5 on August 28. My sister Amy flew up that morning and hitched a ride down with Cade and I so that I could keep him busy during the 9 hour car ride. It was a pretty uneventful drive and we made it safe and sound. I only cried for a few minutes as I drove out of Chico...coulda been worse I guess :)

We are staying between my parent's house and Chris' parents house for the time being until we are able to save enough for the outrageous deposit on a house and find a place we love. Cade LOVES having his family around and stays busy everyday playing with all of his aunts and grandparents. It is going to be an interesting few months of not really having our own home, but we are so grateful to have such wonderful family to take us in.

We are looking forward to this new, adventurous chapter of our lives!
